The New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) announces the organization’s Annual Benefit to be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 5-7 PM, at the Hilton Mystic in Mystic, CT. This year’s Benefit theme is “through students’ eyes” and will be filled with NESS student stories and the impact donors have on their lives. Funds raised at the Benefit are used to provide scholarships to keep NESS inclusive and accessible.
NESS, a nationally recognized, accredited nonprofit education organization, provides students of all ages with year-round experiential programming that includes marine science, sailing, and adventure water sports. NESS’s standards-based programs support STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) curricula with a unique combination of on-the-water and in-the-classroom lessons intended to build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. In 2018, NESS became the first school partner program to be accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
This year’s Annual Benefit is an opportunity for the NESS community, supporters, and friends to come together to celebrate NESS with two significant tributes: NESS’s 20th year and Spike Lobdell’s, Founder and Former CEO, retirement from day-to-day management to Board Chair-elect.
The Benefit will be a celebratory 2-hour cocktail party with hands-on experiences, delicious food, and a showstopper online auction. Before the party concludes, there will be a special Paddle Raise for NESS’s newly established Legacy Fund that provides scholarships and programming for underserved students. Keeping in line with NESS’s experiential learning model, guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in NESS Experiences “through students’ eyes”.
