A recent initiative involving the CT Lottery and Stop & Shop has resulted in a $10,000 donation to the Trumbull Historical Society. This unexpected contribution came following the sale of a winning $1,000,000 Titanium scratch game ticket sold at a Stop & Shop in Trumbull, which entitled the retailer to a bonus. Instead of keeping the bonus, Stop & Shop chose to donate it back to the community.

Nancy Fisher, Co-President of the Trumbull Historical Society, initially viewed the donation news with skepticism. “When I first got the email, I didn’t know if this was legit,” she remarked.

The donation specifically aims to support the Society's mission to preserve local history. Fisher mentioned that the funds might go towards projects like refurbishing a historic one-room schoolhouse. “That’s one way of preserving Trumbull history,” she stated, emphasizing its significance to the community.

CT Lottery President and CEO Frank Suarez highlighted the partnership's importance: "We are honored to stand with Stop & Shop in support of community partners such as the Trumbull Historical Society." Adding to these sentiments, Stop & Shop District Director Paul Jahnige remarked, “The Trumbull Historical Society has done so much to honor the traditions and history here in Trumbull.”

The announcement was celebrated with a ceremonial check presentation attended by representatives from all participating organizations and members of the public.

The CT Lottery Corporation emphasizes their role in supporting the state’s General Fund and has contributed significantly to local programs. The organization, together with its partners, continues to uphold commitments to community support and social responsibility.

For more information on the Connecticut Lottery or their initiatives, the public is encouraged to contact their local retailers or visit their official website.
