The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced temporary train service adjustments on the Hartford Line effective from April 22 to October 31, 2025. During this period, several weekday CTrail and Amtrak trains will be substituted with bus services between Hartford and Springfield, Massachusetts. Weekend train services will remain unaffected. Travelers can check the updated schedule on HartfordLine.com.

The temporary switch to buses is a necessary measure to facilitate the Windsor Locks Station and Track Improvement projects. These projects include replacing the existing Windsor Locks Station with a new station that will feature high-level platforms, improved lighting, and ADA accessibility. Additionally, Amtrak will install new interlockings and perform maintenance on existing rail grade crossings to enhance passenger safety and travel reliability.

“These temporary service changes are being implemented to allow these projects to be completed as quickly and safely as possible,” stated Benjamin Limmer, Connecticut Department of Transportation Bureau Chief of Public Transportation. “We appreciate the patience of Hartford Line customers as we move forward with these important projects.”

Passengers utilizing the substitute buses will be required to purchase a valid CTrail or Amtrak ticket. It's important to note that bus departure times may be earlier than the regular train schedule. The buses will service stops at Hartford, Windsor, Windsor Locks, and Springfield, Massachusetts, with clear signage directing passengers to the bus pick-up and drop-off locations at these stations.

For the most current service information, passengers are advised to visit HartfordLine.com or Amtrak.com. Riders also have the option to receive direct alerts via mobile phone or email by registering at HartfordLine.com/service-alerts. It is recommended to update alert preferences after each schedule change to ensure accurate travel information.
