The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced a virtual public information meeting regarding the rehabilitation of four bridges carrying Route 72 in New Britain and Plainville. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 6 p.m. on Zoom, and will provide an opportunity for the public and local community to learn more about and discuss the construction project. Registration is required for participation.

CTDOT Project Manager Ryan Beaulieu stated, "The purpose of the project is to preserve the condition of the bridges, thus extending the useful service life of these structures and maintaining a state of good repair." He encourages the public to attend the meeting to provide feedback to the CTDOT project team for potential incorporation into the design.

The construction project is expected to start in the spring of 2025, with an estimated cost of around $34 million, funded 80% by federal and 20% by state funds. No right of way impacts are anticipated.

Individuals who do not have internet access can listen to the meeting by calling (877) 853-5257 and using Meeting ID 823 0848 2200. Those with hearing or speech disabilities can utilize Telecommunications Relay Services by dialing 711. Additionally, project information can be mailed upon request by contacting RT72DB@manafort.com or (860) 560-1847.

The meeting will be recorded and posted on YouTube alongside other CTDOT virtual public meetings. Members of the public can submit comments and questions during the two-week public comment period following the meeting.
