The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is preparing to mill and pave four bridges along Route 6, Route 17A, and Interstate 95 in Eastern Connecticut. This initiative is part of the state's bridge preservation program aimed at repairing bridge decks to extend their service life and maintain structural integrity.

The project will involve removing existing bridge overlays and membranes, performing necessary deck repairs, applying new membranes and overlays, and replacing bridge joints. The specific bridges included in this project are:

- Bridge No. 02570: US Route 6 over US Route 6 Expressway in Windham

- Bridge No. 02197: Route 17A over Carr Brook in Portland

- Bridge No. 06032: I-95 over Lieutenant River in Old Lyme

- Bridge No. 06173: I-95 over Route 156 in Old Lyme

According to the current timeline, design completion is expected by August 2025, with construction set to begin in spring 2026, contingent on project approval, funding availability, and receipt of necessary permits. The project will be fully funded by state resources.

CTDOT emphasizes the importance of public involvement in such projects and encourages community feedback to aid development efforts.
