The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is organizing three public meetings to discuss the I-95 Fairfield/Bridgeport Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study. The purpose of these meetings is to gather public input on enhancing safety, mobility, and operations along the I-95 corridor between Bridgeport and Fairfield.

"CTDOT is committed to improving safety, mobility, and operations along the I-95 corridor between Bridgeport and Fairfield, one of the busiest corridors in the region," stated David Mancini, Project Manager at CTDOT. "The study aims to streamline our project development and environmental review process—accelerating project delivery and minimizing overall costs. CTDOT encourages community members and travelers alike to share their travel experiences to help inform decisions and improvements in the project area."

The meetings are scheduled as follows:

Fairfield: Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ludlowe Middle School, located at 689 Unquowa Rd.

Bridgeport: Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Central High School, located at 1 Lincoln Blvd.

Virtual Meeting: Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., accessible via Zoom with registration required at i95fairfieldbridgeport.com.

These sessions will present data on current conditions such as traffic volumes and roadway issues while offering a platform for residents and stakeholders to share their experiences within the study area.

Recommendations for improvements along I-95 from Exit 19 to approximately Exit 30 follow the Federal Highway Administration’s PEL process—a collaborative approach that integrates transportation planning with environmental considerations early in design stages.

For those with limited internet access wishing to listen in on the meeting by phone can call (877) 853-5257 using Meeting ID 825 3507 1377. Alternatively, they may request mailed information by contacting David Mancini at David.Mancini@ct.gov or (860) 594-3498.

Individuals with hearing or speech disabilities can use Telecommunications Relay Services by dialing 711. Language assistance requests should be made five business days before meetings through CTDOT's Language Assistance Call Line at (860) 594-2109; services are free of charge.

A recording of the virtual meeting will be available on the project website within five business days post-meeting with closed captions in English and Spanish.
