The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is preparing to mill and pave 17 bridges along Routes 3, 372, 94, and I-91 in the Greater Hartford area. This initiative is part of a state-wide bridge preservation program aimed at repairing bridge decks to extend their service life and maintain them in good condition.

The project will involve removing the existing bridge overlay and membrane, conducting necessary repairs to the bridge deck, applying a new membrane and overlay, and replacing bridge joints.

A list of bridges involved includes:

- Route 3 over I-91 and Dividend Brook in Rocky Hill

- Route 3 over Route 9 in Cromwell

- Several bridges over Naubuc Avenue, Main Street, Route 2, Ramp 080 eastbound in Glastonbury

- Bridges on Route 3 northbound over I-91 Town Road 802 and southbound over I-91 and TR804 in Wethersfield

- Route 372 over Mattabasset River in Berlin

- Route 94 over Route 17 in Glastonbury

- Multiple bridges on I-91 northbound and southbound over Providence & Worcester Railroad, Middletown Avenue, Elm Street in Wethersfield

The design phase is expected to be completed by August 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring of 2026 upon project approval, funding availability, and acquisition of necessary permits. The project will be funded entirely by state funds.

CTDOT emphasizes the importance of public involvement during such projects. Community feedback is encouraged to aid the project's development. Currently, a formal public hearing is not planned due to minimal traffic impact.
