The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is set to hold a virtual public information meeting on March 31, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will discuss the replacement of bridge No. 02112 on Route 10 over an unnamed brook in Avon. The session aims to provide the public and local community with an opportunity to comment or ask questions about the proposed project.

The meeting will be conducted via Zoom, requiring prior registration. A question and answer session will follow the presentation, which will also be recorded. Instructions for accessing the meeting and submitting comments or questions are available at http://portal.ct.gov/DOTAvon0004-0136.

“The purpose of the project is to address the structural deficiencies of the bridge to accommodate safe travel for all bridge users and proper conveyance of the brook water below,” stated Francisco Fadul from CTDOT. He encouraged public participation to gather feedback that could be incorporated into the project's design.

The project is expected to have right-of-way impacts, including partial takes, slope easements, drainage rights of way, temporary construction easements, and rights. Construction is planned to start in spring 2027 with an estimated cost of $3.2 million, funded by 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.

For those with limited internet access, listening options are available by calling (877) 853-5257 using Meeting ID 822 6986 1084. Telecommunications Relay Services can be accessed by dialing 711 for individuals with hearing or speech disabilities. Project information can also be mailed upon request within one week by contacting Francisco.Fadul@ct.gov or (860) 594-2078.

Language assistance is available through CTDOT's Language Assistance Call Line at (860) 594-2109 and should be requested at least five business days before the meeting. This service is free, and efforts will be made to accommodate timely requests.

The meeting will also be livestreamed on CTDOT's YouTube channel without registration requirements. Non-English language closed captioning will be provided on both Zoom and YouTube platforms. The recording will subsequently be posted in CTDOT's virtual public meetings archive.

Comments and questions from the public can be submitted during a two-week period following the meeting until April 14, 2025. Submissions can be made via email or phone to DOTProject0004-0136@ct.gov, (860)-594-2020; Francisco.Fadul@ct.gov or (860) 594-2078, referencing Project No. 0004-0136.
