The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is working on plans to transform the current signalized intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Route 100 into a single-lane roundabout, covering the areas of Branford and East Haven. This project aims to enhance safety at the intersection and manage the maintenance of the nearby rock slope.

The timeline for this initiative suggests that design completion is expected by March 2027, with construction projected to commence in fall 2027. This schedule depends on project approval, funding availability, and obtaining necessary right-of-way and environmental permits. The project will be financed with eighty percent federal funds and twenty percent state funds.

CTDOT emphasizes its commitment to keeping the public informed and involved throughout such projects. Community feedback is considered vital for aiding in project development. For any inquiries or comments regarding this project, individuals are encouraged to contact Mr. Scott Bushee, P.E., Principal Engineer, at (860) 594-2079 or via email at scott.bushee@ct.gov, referencing State Project No. 0043-0133.
