Town of Tolland issued the following announcement on March 16.
On March 23 between 7:30 and 8:30 am UConn Center for Career Development staff will be facilitating a virtual information session for small businesses. The workshop will focus on how small businesses in the region can tap into the resources of the University and gain student intern support and assistance. In a time where small businesses are struggling to adequately staff their business or service, this opportunity is very timely.
The session is being cohosted by the University and a 4 Town initiative that includes Bolton, Coventry, Mansfield and Tolland. In September 2020, the four towns completed a regional action plan to encourage economic vitality in the respective towns by working collaboratively and building upon the common strengths and assets that each town possesses. The workshop is one example of many regional partnerships that are being developed with the execution of the regional plan.
This plan is designed to better develop and promote key industry areas and to grow strategic partnerships, with the end goal of retention, expansion, and attraction of businesses to and within the region. As these businesses become more successful, the region will see job growth, increased investment, and increased tax revenue at the local level. Following are key focuses of this plan: outdoor recreation, agriculture and agri-tourism, culture and entertainment, entrepreneurs and small businesses, visibility and marketing, partnering with regional higher education institutions, plan administration.
A follow up session that will be cohosted by the University and the four towns is being planned for the month of April that will further demonstrate the value that small businesses can find by connecting with the resources available from the University and its broad and talented student population.
