The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has scheduled an in-person public information meeting for a sidewalk installation project on Route 175 in Newington. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Newington Town Hall, 200 Garfield Street, Newington. The venue is ADA accessible.
The meeting aims to give the public and local community a chance to provide comments or ask questions about the proposed project. More details can be found at https://portal.ct.gov/DOTNewington93-251.
“The purpose of this project is to construct sidewalks along Cedar Street to improve pedestrian accommodations and a continuous network between transit, retail, and educational facilities,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Devin Racicot. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
The project is expected to involve right-of-way impacts through permanent easements for the sidewalk construction. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2026, with an estimated project cost of approximately $2.6 million, funded 80% by federal funds and 20% by state funds.
Individuals with hearing and/or speech disabilities can use 711 for Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS). Those who wish to receive project information by mail should contact Devin.Racicot@ct.gov or (860) 594-2735 within one week of the meeting.
Language assistance is available by contacting the CTDOT Language Assistance Call Line at (860) 594-2109 at least five days before the meeting. This service is offered at no cost, and requests for assistance will be addressed promptly.
The public comment period will remain open for two weeks following the meeting, concluding on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Comments and questions can be submitted to Devin.Racicot@ct.gov or (860) 594-2735, referencing Project No. 0093-0251.
