Celebrating its 52nd Season, Internationally Renowned Garth Fagan Dance Comes to UConn’s Jorgensen Center Sat, Nov 12, 2022, 8 pm

Praised as “unfailingly original” by The New York Times, Tony Award-winning choreographer Garth Fagan (The Lion King) will bring his internationally acclaimed dance troupe Garth Fagan Dance onto the main stage at UConn’s Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday evening, November 12, for a night of vibrant, masterfully choreographed American contemporary dance with a delightful blend of classic and new pieces.

Now celebrating its 52nd season, Fagan’s renowned high-energy ensemble continues to garner accolades for its excellence and originality with its recent receipt of a New York Governor’s Arts Award, five “Bessie” Awards (New York Performance Awards), and Fagan’s own receipt of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the prestigious American Dance Guild. Fagan’s ever-evolving dance language draws on many sources: sense of weight in modern dance, torso-centered movement and energy of Afro-Caribbean, speed and precision of ballet, and the rule breaking experimentation of the post-moderns.

Doors to the performance open at 7:30 pm.  Performance begins at 8:00 pm.

A Q&A session will follow the performance.
