Hartford freshman Zack MacMillan was named to the NCAA Division III PING All-Region Team for region one, according to a May 10 announcement by the NCAA in coordination with the Golf Coaches Association of America. The honors recognize players from seven regions and 58 schools for their performance during the 2026 season.
MacMillan has maintained an average score of 74.8 this season and secured a win at The Battle at Bull’s Bridge, finishing two over par with a score of 74. He also achieved five top-three finishes, including second place at both the Conference of New England Men’s Golf Championship with an even-par round of 72 and at the Duke Nelson Invitational, where he shot back-to-back rounds of one over par (72) to start Hartford’s year.
MacMillan is set to conclude his season at the NCAA Division III Championship tournament in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The first round is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12.
PING designs and manufactures golf equipment such as metal woods, irons, wedges, putters and bags. Founded in 1959 by Karsten Solheim in his garage after he became frustrated with his putting performance, PING has become known for innovation within the golf industry. According to company history provided in the announcement, Solheim’s engineering background led him to develop new standards like perimeter weighting and custom fitting that have influenced modern club design.
The recognition highlights MacMillan’s achievements as a freshman golfer representing Hartford on a national stage.
