The Yale men’s track and field team set a new school record in the 4×400 meter relay during the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which concluded on May 17 at Princeton’s Weaver Stadium. The relay team, consisting of first-year Jozef Miesak, first-year Ethan Johnson, junior Lucas Mylon, and senior Andrew Farr, finished with a time of 3:09.34.
The event highlighted strong performances from Yale’s senior class. Senior Brian Di Bassinga secured fourth place in the triple jump with a mark of 15.23 meters, while senior Owen Karas took sixth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:43.81.
Princeton won the meet overall with a total score of 219 points. Scoring for events followed a scale awarding points to top finishers: ten for first place down to one point for sixth place.
Other notable results included Yale’s fifth-place finish in the 4×100 meter relay (40.51 seconds), also featuring Farr, Miesak, Mylon, and first-year Graham Houghton; third- and sixth-place finishes by Nolan Recker (62.59 meters) and Jake Sun (59.60 meters) respectively in the hammer throw; and Nathan Lebowitz placing fourth in discus throw (54.71 meters).
The competition marks an important milestone for several Yale athletes as they conclude their season at one of collegiate track’s most competitive meets.
