The No. 9 Yale men’s lacrosse team is set to finish its regular season with a game against Brown on Saturday, April 25. The Bulldogs, who are coming off their fifth consecutive win, will play at Stevenson-Pincince Field in Providence, Rhode Island.
A win for Yale would secure the team’s spot in the Ivy League Tournament for the fifteenth year in a row. The Bulldogs could also earn a share of the league title if they defeat Brown and both Princeton and Cornell lose their respective games this weekend.
In their last outing, Sean Grogan led Yale with four goals and two assists as they defeated UAlbany 15-2. Eight different players scored for Yale during that match, which included strong performances from David Anderson with three goals and Cole Cashion with two early scores. Ben Friedman made nine saves and assisted on one goal while the defense held UAlbany scoreless in the first half—something not achieved since March 2016.
The Bulldogs currently rank second nationally in man-up offense (.609) and hold high positions in several other statistical categories: thirteenth in saves per game (13), seventeenth in scoring offense (12.75), and eighteenth in winning percentage (.667). Connor Gately leads the Ivy League with an average of 2.42 assists per game, while Friedman ranks ninth nationally in save percentage (.567) and leads the league with over thirteen saves per game.
Brown enters Saturday’s contest with a record of six wins and six losses overall (1-4 Ivy). In their recent double-overtime loss to Penn, Ben Scandone scored three goals while Brady O’Kane added two more; goalkeeper Connor Foley recorded sixteen saves during that match.
