The Yale Bulldogs men’s lacrosse team defeated UAlbany 15-2 on Senior Day at Reese Stadium, according to an April 18 announcement. Sean Grogan led the team with four goals and two assists in a performance that saw eight different Bulldogs score.

This win brings Yale’s record to 8-4 for the season, while UAlbany falls to 8-6. The game was marked by a strong start from Yale, which scored five times in the opening quarter and held UAlbany scoreless through the first half. The Bulldogs took a commanding nine-goal lead into halftime.

Grogan’s six-point day was supported by David Anderson’s hat trick and contributions from Cole Cashion, Connor Gately, Cole Jackson, William Sheehan, Dylan Blekicki, Luke Pascal, and Flynn Leonard. Ben Friedman made nine saves in goal and also assisted on one of Sheehan’s scores. Ben Cuomo won six out of ten faceoffs and picked up six ground balls.

The scoring summary showed Yale dominating each quarter: Cashion netted the first two goals; Grogan added another; Sheehan scored off Friedman’s assist; Pascal finished the first-quarter scoring with just seconds left. In the second quarter, Jackson opened with a goal followed by tallies from Grogan, Anderson (on a man-up play), and Leonard.

UAlbany got its first goal early in the third quarter but could not mount a comeback as Grogan quickly responded with two more goals before Gately added another for Yale. Anderson closed out his hat trick in the fourth quarter alongside Jackson’s final goal of the game.

Notably, this marks five consecutive wins for Yale. The Bulldogs held an opponent scoreless in one half for the first time since March 12, 2016 against Fairfield and limited an opponent to just two goals for only the second time since March 11, 2014 versus Lehigh.

Yale will finish its regular season schedule at Brown on Saturday, April 25.
