The Yale baseball team defeated Dartmouth 7-3 at George H.W. Bush ’48 Field on May 8, improving its overall record to 25-13-1 and its Ivy League mark to 12-6-1. The win was the first of a three-game series and brings Yale closer to clinching the Ivy League title with two games left in the regular season.
This victory is significant for Yale as it puts them in position to secure home-field advantage for the upcoming conference tournament if they win their next two games. Dartmouth, meanwhile, fell to a record of 15-23 overall and 7-12 in conference play.
Jack Ohman started on the mound for Yale, pitching six innings with seven strikeouts while allowing three earned runs. Tate Evans followed with a strong relief performance, delivering 2.2 shutout innings and striking out four batters. Alex Hwang closed out the game by recording the final out with two runners on base.
Key offensive contributions included Kaiden Dossa, who extended his on-base streak to 32 games and hit streak to 12 games, and Garrett Larsen, who collected three hits for his team-leading 22nd multi-hit game of the season. Colin Sloan added two runs batted in during crucial moments of the game.
Yale’s offense produced key runs throughout: Larsen singled home Dossa in the first inning; Colin Sloan tied it up with an RBI single in the fourth; Chris DiPrima delivered a sacrifice fly as part of a four-run sixth inning; Jackson Hays and Davis Hanson contributed bunts that brought home additional runs; and Sloan provided an insurance run with an RBI groundout in the eighth.
With this win marking their fourth time reaching at least 25 victories since 1996—and tying their highest two-year win total since 1992–93—the Bulldogs will conclude their regular season against Dartmouth on Sunday, May 10.
