Quinnipiac University announced on April 23 that sophomore Willow Renton has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Year for a second consecutive season, while Head Coach Paula Miller was selected as MAAC Head Coach of the Year. The announcement follows the Bobcats’ undefeated regular season and their eleventh regular season MAAC title.

The recognition highlights both individual and team accomplishments for Quinnipiac women’s tennis. In addition to Renton’s unanimous selection as Player of the Year, she earned First Team All-MAAC honors in singles and doubles with partner Caitlin Flower. Isabella Baker joined Renton on the First Team singles list after a strong debut season, finishing with a 7-1 record. Flower and Vera Sekerina were named to Second Team Singles, while Caroline Schulson and Isabella Sicignano received Second Team Doubles honors.

Renton went undefeated at No. 1 singles with an 8-0 record, including seven straight-set victories. She also posted a perfect record in doubles play alongside Flower. The pair have accumulated fifteen doubles wins over two seasons together.

Miller’s leadership contributed to another successful year for Quinnipiac, guiding them to their tenth perfect MAAC regular season during her tenure. Her career conference record now stands at 73-2 in regular-season play. Miller has previously been named MAAC Coach of the Year eight times and led the team to eight tournament titles and NCAA appearances since joining Quinnipiac.

The Bobcats also placed eight student-athletes on the MAAC All-Academic Team this year by maintaining at least a 3.20 grade point average across two semesters: Trista Caffyn-Parsons, Caitlin Flower, Ella Lewis, Willow Renton, Caroline Schulson, Vera Sekerina, Anagha Shankar, and Isabella Sicignano.

Quinnipiac enters this weekend’s MAAC Championship as top seed with a conference-best overall record of 16-6. They are scheduled to face Fairfield University in Princeton on Friday morning.
