The University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team will host Marquette on Apr. 23 for their final regular season game, with BIG EAST playoff implications at stake. The match, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Senior Day, could secure the Huskies a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament if they win; a loss would end their season.

A victory would send UConn into the postseason as the No. 3 seed for next weekend’s tournament in Denver. The Denver Pioneers and Georgetown Hoyas are currently tied at first place with records of 5-0 and will play each other to determine the regular season champion. Marquette has already secured its postseason position with a 3-2 record, leaving one remaining tournament spot to be claimed by either UConn or Villanova. Villanova needs both a win over Butler and a UConn loss to advance.

UConn recently ended non-conference play with a loss against Harvard, falling 19-12 after previously winning three straight games. Rayea Davis led UConn’s offense during that match with two goals and four assists, while Emma Dacey contributed one goal and two assists. Abby Beran made three caused turnovers on defense, and Barlow Clark-Schoeb won six draw controls.

Marquette enters Saturday’s matchup following a decisive 20-6 victory over Butler last week that clinched its first BIG EAST Tournament berth since 2023. Senior Tess Osburn scored five goals and had an assist; Dani Serrano recorded seven assists and two goals; Hanna Bodner added three goals; Sarah Beth Burns scored twice as well.

Historically, UConn leads the all-time series against Marquette with ten wins to three losses and remains undefeated at home (7-0) versus the Golden Eagles despite dropping last year’s road game by one goal.

Before Saturday’s contest begins at Morrone Stadium, UConn will honor its ten departing seniors—Nora Casey, Karsyn Burnash, Rayea Davis, Barlow Clark-Schoeb, Ava Plata, Grace Winkler, Chandler McHale, Alana Goldhaber, Brooke Surace, and Olivia Marlow—alongside their families.
