UConn track and field teams complete regular season at Northeastern meet

The University of Connecticut men’s and women’s track and field teams finished their final regular season competition on May 2 at the Northeastern Jay Carisella and Joe Donahue Coaches Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts.

The event served as the last opportunity for athletes to compete before the upcoming BIG EAST Championship, which will be held in Storrs from May 14 to 16. Both UConn teams achieved several top-10 performances during the meet.

In men’s events, Christian Menounos placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:59.55, ranking seventh all-time at UConn. Daniel Hilmer finished fourth in the same race with a time of 9:04.06, placing ninth all-time for the program. Mohamed Wahdan won the men’s 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.25 seconds, followed by Wyatt Gravier in second place at 14.40 seconds and Jordan Quinn finishing fourth at 14.69 seconds.

Orenthal Singletary secured first place in the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.59 seconds while Gravier took fourth (55.96) and Wahdan was fifth (57:01). In other races, Peyton Butler and Teyedza Jaravaza finished fifth (21.74) and sixth (21.83), respectively, in the men’s 200-meter dash; Noah Colangelo was ninth in the men’s 400 meters (49.33); Mason Brosious took ninth place in the men’s 800 meters (1:51.32).

For women’s events, Allison McCarthy came second and Caitlin Thomas third in the women’s steeplechase with times of 10:46.47 and 10:53.02 respectively; Maia Rich was fourth (14.32) while Maegan Feeney was ninth (15.65) in women’s hurdles; Kiley Shatzel placed fifth (1:03.27) and Rich sixth (1:04.13) in women’s hurdles; Sarah Claflin finished seventh (12.45) in women’s sprints; Emerson Flaker took ninth place overall among women runners.

Field events saw Marshall Potter take second place for men’s discus throw at a distance measured outwards towards fifty-one meters along Nicholas Connolly who ranked forth just behind him then Lucas DeCrescenzo landed himself right after that into seventh both throwing nearly forty-seven meters away from starting point thus earning points needed collectively between them all including another showing up again where he also ended up being counted among those achieving notable marks inside hammer category reaching fifty-six plus some centimeters across attempts taken thereon too each contributing effort toward team totals overall throughout daylong schedule presented herewith accordingly thereafter.
