The University of Connecticut announced on May 6 that the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex will host the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships presented by Jeep from May 14 through May 16.
The event is significant for UConn, as it marks the second consecutive year and seventh time overall that Storrs has served as the championship site. The Huskies are aiming to complete a sweep of both indoor and outdoor BIG EAST championships for a fifth straight season, with hopes of sending this year’s senior class off undefeated in their collegiate careers.
On the men’s side, UConn is seeking its sixth consecutive outdoor title, which would set a new conference record for most consecutive championships. The team has claimed all five titles since rejoining the league in the 2020-21 season and is looking to secure its tenth overall BIG EAST Outdoor title (previous wins include: 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2013, 2011, 2002, and 1982).
The women’s team is also striving for its fifth straight outdoor championship. A win would bring their total to seven BIG EAST Outdoor titles (previous wins: 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 1995, and1986) and tie Louisville’s record of five consecutive victories set between2008–2012.
Head Coach Beth Alford-Sullivan has led UConn through three recent outdoor championship runs as well as four straight indoor titles. During her tenure at Penn State before joining UConn, she guided teams to nine Big Ten team championships.
Competition begins at noon on Thursday with multi-event competitions including heptathlon and decathlon events, and concludes Saturday afternoon with an awards ceremony following final track relays.
