The University of Connecticut softball team is set to host the Providence Friars for a three-game series at Burrill Family Field in Storrs, beginning Friday, April 17. The games will take place over the weekend, with matchups scheduled for Friday at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m., and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. All games are available for streaming on ESPN+.

This series comes as UConn holds the longest active winning streak in NCAA softball, having won its last eleven games. The Huskies have swept their previous three BIG EAST series and currently sit atop the conference standings with a record of 12-3.

During their winning streak, UConn has outscored opponents by a margin of 79-22, hit sixteen home runs, and maintained a collective batting average of .317. Four players—Savannah Ring (.513), Kaitlyn Breslin (.483), Cat Petteys (.387), and Ava Calciano (.333)—are hitting above .300 during this stretch. On the season, Ring, Petteys, and Breslin each maintain averages above .300.

The pitching staff has also played a key role during these eleven games with an earned run average of 1.97, sixty-three strikeouts, and three shutouts. Jessica Walter and Caprice Bohmer have combined to pitch more than half of those innings.

Providence enters the weekend on its own five-game winning streak after sweeping St. John’s last week. With a conference record of 10-2 under head coach Kelsey Christensen’s third season, Providence sits second in the BIG EAST standings. Junior Cameron Dunn leads her team with a .416 batting average this year—the fifth highest in the conference.

Historically, UConn has performed well against Providence; last year they won two out of three regular season meetings before defeating the Friars again en route to their eighth BIG EAST Championship. Under head coach Laura Valentino since 2021, UConn is twelve wins to four losses against Providence and leads the all-time series seventy-three wins to twenty-six.
