The University of Connecticut softball team defeated Hofstra, 11-3, in a five-inning run rule game on April 22 at Burrill Family Field. The Huskies improved their season record to 23-24 with this win.

This result is significant as it marks UConn’s third consecutive out-of-conference victory and demonstrates the team’s offensive strength. The Huskies’ performance was highlighted by Cat Petteys, who hit two home runs during the game, bringing her season total to a team-high of 17. This was also her third multi-home run game of the year.

Freshman Caprice Bohmer started for UConn and pitched two scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out three batters. Bohmer earned her eleventh win of the season, which leads the team. Sydnee Koosh entered in relief during the third inning and added three more strikeouts over two innings while giving up one run on two hits.

UConn took an early lead in the first inning with Petteys’ solo home run and continued to build momentum throughout the game. In addition to Petteys’ contributions, Savannah Ring had multiple RBIs, Kaitlyn Kibling extended her streak of reaching base safely to fifteen games, and Haley Coupal recorded her sixth multi-RBI game this season.

The Huskies’ offense worked nine walks—just one short of their season high—and limited Hofstra’s hitters to only three hits overall. Kaitlyn Breslin also maintained a nine-game streak of reaching base safely.

Looking ahead, UConn will host Creighton from April 24 through April 26 at Burrill Family Field.
