The University of Connecticut men’s and women’s track and field teams will send three multievent athletes to the Mt. Sac Relays, according to an April 14 announcement.

Josh Mooney and Diarmuid O’Connor are set to compete in the decathlon on Wednesday, April 15, and Thursday, April 16. Maresa Hense will represent UConn in the women’s heptathlon during the same days.

Mooney began his outdoor season with third-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles at both the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational (14.21 seconds) and the UConn Dog Fight (14.07 seconds). O’Connor also participated in hurdles at Myrtle Beach’s Shamrock Invite with a time of 15.66 seconds, and ran a time of 49.20 seconds in the 400 meters at the UConn Dog Fight.

Hense earned second-team All-America honors during indoor season before making her outdoor debut at the UConn Dog Fight by winning the long jump with a distance of 5.92 meters. She was also part of UConn’s victorious 4×400 meter relay team that finished in 3:44.97, and placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.93 seconds.

The heptathlon is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m., starting with the women’s 100-meter hurdles, while men’s decathlon events will commence at 2:30 p.m., beginning with the men’s 100-meter dash.
