Connor Liona, Vayo Rodriguez, and Brennan Hart-Nova from the Sacred Heart University men’s tennis team were named to the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District Team, according to a May 13 announcement.

This recognition highlights student-athletes who have shown strong academic performance while competing in their sport. To be eligible for this honor, nominees must maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and participate in at least 75 percent of their institution’s days of competition. Regional competitions such as ITAs and non-team scored events do not count toward this requirement.

The selection of Liona, Rodriguez, and Hart-Nova reflects both their commitment to academics and their active roles on the tennis team throughout the season.

This distinction is part of ongoing efforts by college sports organizations to recognize student-athletes who balance athletic commitments with academic achievement.

The announcement underscores the importance placed on education among collegiate athletes as they pursue both academic and athletic goals.
