The Yale softball team ended its season with an 11-3 loss to Dartmouth in five innings, according to an April 26 report. The Bulldogs finished the year with a record of 17-28 overall and went 7-14 in Ivy League play, while Dartmouth improved to 8-22 overall and 5-12 in conference games.

The game saw both teams trading leads early on. Dartmouth opened the scoring with a two-RBI triple in the first inning. Yale responded in the third when Ella Cross and Jane Littleton reached base, setting up Grace Westmoreland for an RBI single. Ava Kang then delivered a hit up the middle that brought home two more runs, giving Yale a brief lead.

Dartmouth regained control in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single down the left field line. The Big Green extended their advantage further with a three-run home run during a four-run fourth inning, followed by three more runs in the fifth that ended the game via run rule.

Emma Taylor made her final appearance for Yale, recording four strikeouts and finishing her career with 304 strikeouts—second most all-time for the program. Kang contributed by going two-for-three at bat with two runs batted in, while Westmoreland also had two hits including a double, one run scored, and one RBI.

As both teams look ahead to next season, Taylor’s milestone marks a significant achievement for Yale softball.
