Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Agriculture Commissioner Bryan P. Hurlburt will be visiting Steadfast Farms in Bethlehem on Monday to mark Agriculture Week. The event, scheduled for 1:00 p.m., aims to showcase the impact of the state’s Farm Transition Grant program on agriculture businesses. This program is designed to help these businesses diversify and adapt to meet both consumer and industry needs.

A key focus of the visit will be the expansion of a poultry processing facility at Steadfast Farms, which holds the distinction of being the only USDA-inspected facility in Connecticut.

The event will feature several notable attendees including Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Agriculture Commissioner Bryan P. Hurlburt, as well as Jared McCool, Founder and CEO of Steadfast Farms, and Aaron McCool, Director of Operations.

To ensure biosecurity during the visit, attendees are advised not to visit other farms within 72 hours prior to their arrival at Steadfast Farms. Additionally, vehicles entering the premises will have their tires sprayed with disinfectants. Visitors must wear provided shoe coverings or use disinfectant on their footwear and sign into a facility logbook upon arrival.

The event underscores efforts by state officials to support agricultural growth and innovation through funding initiatives such as the Farm Transition Grant program.
