Sacred Heart women’s track and field finishes sixth at ECAC outdoor championships

The Sacred Heart University women’s track and field team finished sixth out of 18 teams at the 50th ECAC Division I Women’s & 149th IC4A Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships, according to an April 19 announcement.

This result highlights the team’s performance among a competitive field. The event provided an opportunity for athletes to earn points in individual and relay events, contributing to the overall team score.

Nyahingiva Musa led Sacred Heart by winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.70 seconds, securing ten points for her team. Musa also placed seventh in the 200-meter race with a time of 24.94 seconds, adding two more points to the team’s total. In addition, Elizabeth Apostolico, Annalise Nassy, Ariyana Jackson, and Musa combined efforts in the 4×100-meter relay to finish in fifth place with a time of 47.62 seconds and earn six points for Sacred Heart.

The Pioneers’ performance at this championship reflects their preparation throughout the season as they competed against strong programs from across the region.

Looking ahead, Sacred Heart will participate in the upcoming Penn Relay Carnival at the University of Pennsylvania. The meet is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 23 and continue through Saturday, April 25.
