The Sacred Heart University women’s lacrosse team had three players earn All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honors, according to an April 24 announcement from the league.
This recognition highlights the achievements of Brooke Gyllenhaal, Madelyn Breitbeil, and Madalynn Eder-Linell for their performances during the season. The awards reflect both athletic excellence and academic commitment within the program.
Gyllenhaal was named to the First Team after starting all 15 games as a senior defender. She ranked second in the conference in ground balls per game and fourth in caused turnovers per game. Gyllenhaal led her team with 29 caused turnovers and 46 ground balls, also contributing offensively with goals in consecutive games at Gardner-Webb and Monmouth.
Breitbeil received Second Team honors, marking her second career all-conference award. She started all 11 games she played this season, finishing second on the team with 25 caused turnovers. Breitbeil recorded multiple games with two or more caused turnovers and had a standout five-draw performance against Coastal Carolina.
Eder-Linell earned a spot on the MAAC All-Rookie Team after her debut season as goalkeeper. In nine starts over eleven appearances, she ranked third in goals-against average (9.66) and fourth in save percentage (.444) within the conference. Eder-Linell totaled 68 saves for the year.
Beyond athletic accomplishments, Sacred Heart’s student-athletes were recognized for their academic success as well; twenty players made the MAAC All-Academic Team across various fields of study including nursing, biology, finance, marketing, and graphic design. To qualify for this honor, students must have completed two semesters at their institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a four-point scale.
