Sacred Heart University announced on April 29 that its women’s rowing team won all five events at the Sacred Heart Invite and received Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Boat of the Week honors in the first varsity eight, second varsity eight, and first varsity four categories.
The announcement highlights a strong showing by Sacred Heart’s rowers against top conference competition. The performance is notable as it included victories over reigning MAAC champions.
In the Varsity 8 event, Sacred Heart finished with a time of 6:39.5, winning by open water over their closest competitors. The second varsity eight crew secured victory with a time of 6:48.0, finishing more than eight seconds ahead of their rivals. The team also took first place in the varsity four event with a time of 7:31.5.
These results contributed to a sweep for Sacred Heart across all five races held during the invitational meet.
The university said these achievements earned them Boat of the Week recognition from their conference in three major boat classes.
