The Sacred Heart University men’s track and field team finished second out of 18 teams at the 50th ECAC Division I Women’s & 149th IC4A Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships, according to an April 19 announcement from the university.
This result highlights a strong performance for Sacred Heart, as they competed against several other schools. The team’s achievement was led by a program-record in the 4×800-meter relay. Dylan Peterson, Joshua Voorhees, Liam Keish, and Lance Hayes won the event with a time of 7:39.58.
Colin Brown contributed significantly to the team’s score by winning the 200-meter dash in 21.73 seconds, narrowly beating his closest competitor by just three hundredths of a second. Brown also placed fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.64 seconds, earning a total of fourteen points across both events for Sacred Heart.
Alexander Rotondi added four points to the team’s total with his fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, recording a time of 55.12 seconds.
Looking ahead, Sacred Heart will compete next week at the historic Penn Relay Carnival at the University of Pennsylvania from Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25.
