Sacred Heart men’s golf in third after first round of MAAC Championship

The Sacred Heart University men’s golf team is in third place after the opening round of the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship, held at Disney’s Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Florida, according to an April 28 announcement.

This result puts Sacred Heart just one stroke behind Siena and four strokes behind Iona, which currently leads the tournament. The team’s score stands at 293 (+5) after the first day.

Mike Rothberg and Ronan Mooney led Sacred Heart’s performance by tying for sixth place individually. Both golfers shot rounds of even-par 72. Rothberg recorded three birdies during his round, while Mooney had an eagle and two birdies.

Pablo Lacayo finished with a score of two-over-par 74, and Yu Chan Ji Lim was close behind with a three-over-par 75. Sho Suzuki completed the lineup for Sacred Heart by finishing tied for forty-second place with a score of seven-over-par 79.

The second round of the championship is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning.
