Sacred Heart lost to Siena in the series finale, according to an April 26 announcement. The game saw Sacred Heart fall behind early and struggle to recover despite efforts from its pitching staff and late offensive attempts.
The result leaves Sacred Heart with a record of 13-25 overall and 10-10 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, while Siena improves to 15-24 overall and 8-12 in conference play.
Siena took an early lead by scoring two runs in the first inning and another run in the second. Jake Friel pitched for Sacred Heart, recording multiple strikeouts but allowing three earned runs over two innings. Jase Schueller provided relief through the middle innings, also collecting several strikeouts, but Siena continued to add runs throughout the game.
Offensively, Gavin Donohue walked and scored one of Sacred Heart’s two runs after a single by Daniel Rice put runners on base. Kyle Cincinnati drove in Donohue with a sacrifice fly. In the eighth inning, JW Fitzgerald walked and later scored following a sequence that included a fielder’s choice and groundout from Donohue.
Andrew Sager pitched one scoreless inning of relief for Sacred Heart late in the game. However, Siena added more runs late to secure a final score of 10–2 against Sacred Heart.
Looking ahead, Sacred Heart will travel to Houlihan Park in the Bronx for their next matchup against Fordham on Tuesday, April 28.
