Sacred Heart lost to Siena in a high-scoring baseball game, 20-11, according to an April 25 announcement. Despite consistent offensive production throughout the contest, Sacred Heart was unable to overcome Siena’s strong performance.

The result leaves Sacred Heart with a record of 13-24 overall and 10-9 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Siena improves to 14-24 overall and holds a conference record of 7-12.

Several players contributed notable performances for Sacred Heart. JW Fitzgerald went three-for-four with two runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. Gavin Donohue added two hits, two runs scored, three RBIs and a double. Will Rudolph also had three hits along with two runs scored and two RBIs. On the mound, Ryan Parker pitched four-and-a-third innings allowing nine hits and five runs (four earned), walking three batters and striking out two.

Siena took an early lead by scoring three runs in the first inning before extending its advantage in later frames. Sacred Heart responded in the second when Will Rudolph reached on an error and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Will Cook after walks loaded the bases. The Pioneers continued to chip away at the deficit through several innings but could not close the gap as Siena broke open the game with a big ninth inning.

Sacred Heart showed resilience by continuing to score late into the game but ultimately fell short as Gavin Donohue delivered a two-RBI single in their final at-bat before falling by nine runs.

The Pioneers are scheduled to return for game three against Siena at Veterans Park tomorrow at 1 p.m.
