Sacred Heart announced on Apr. 16 changes to its upcoming baseball series against Merrimack College, citing recent news about one of its teammates.

The university said there will be a doubleheader on Friday starting at 11:30 a.m., and the final game is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. Fans attending Friday’s games are asked to park in the main parking lot because school will be in session.

The announcement also included arrangements for Jack Birtwell, described as a beloved Sacred Heart baseball teammate. Calling hours are scheduled for Sunday, April 19 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home in Hanover. A funeral service will take place at The Calvary Chapel in Rockland on Monday, April 20 at 11 a.m., with burial services to remain private.

The schedule adjustments reflect the team’s response to recent events affecting one of their own members and aim to accommodate both athletic commitments and memorial arrangements.
