Sacred Heart University senior men’s golfers Mike Rothberg and Pablo Lacayo were named First Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the league announced on April 27. The announcement comes as the team prepares for the MAAC Championship.

The recognition marks the second time both Rothberg and Lacayo have earned First Team honors since Sacred Heart joined the conference. Their performances throughout the season contributed significantly to their selection.

Rothberg leads his team with an adjusted average score of 73.1 over 31 rounds this season. He achieved two top-three finishes and four top-10 placements, including a notable second-place finish at the Wykagyl Collegiate hosted by Iona in October.

Lacayo closely follows with a 73.5 adjusted average across 25 rounds. He placed in the top eleven in six out of nine events, finishing third at both the SHU Spring Break Invite and SHU Fall Classic.

Both players are expected to play key roles as Sacred Heart pursues its first MAAC Championship, which begins April 28 at Disney’s Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Florida.
