Quinnipiac University announced on May 1 that its women’s tennis team will play against No. 4 Texas A&M in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on May 2 at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.

This marks Quinnipiac’s fourth appearance in the NCAA tournament over the last five seasons. The team enters the match with a 13-game winning streak and recently secured their ninth league championship by defeating Mount St. Mary’s. The Bobcats have won 20 consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) matches since the previous season.

Texas A&M, which finished as national runner-up in 2025 and was national champion in 2024, holds a record of 22-5 this season and is seeded fourth overall. The Aggies are led by Lucciana Perez, who is undefeated this year with a record of 23-0 and was named Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year. Mia Kupres also earned All-SEC honors.

Quinnipiac’s head coach Paula Miller was named MAAC Head Coach of the Year for her ninth time with Quinnipiac after guiding her team to an undefeated conference regular season for a second straight year. Sophomore Willow Renton received MAAC Player of the Year honors for a second consecutive season and was selected to both All-MAAC First Team Singles and Doubles along with Caitlin Flower.

The Bobcats placed eight athletes on the MAAC All-Academic Team, leading all teams in conference academic honors. Vera Sekerina was named Championship MVP after going undefeated during championship weekend.

Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will aim to advance past Texas A&M following two previous losses against them at this stage.
