Quinnipiac women’s tennis lost 4-0 to No. 4 Texas A&M in the first round of the NCAA tournament, according to a May 2 announcement.
The match concluded Quinnipiac’s season with an overall record of 18-7, which is the program’s highest win total since at least the 2000-01 season. The team entered the tournament on a 13-match winning streak and earned its spot after a decisive victory over Mount St. Mary’s in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship.
During singles play, Isabella Baker won five games against Ilinca Amariei, matching Caitlin Flower’s program record for most games won by a Bobcat in an NCAA Tournament singles match. As a team, Quinnipiac recorded a program-best total of 24 games during this tournament appearance. Willow Renton and Caitlin Flower each added four singles games, and together they also picked up two doubles games.
Under Head Coach Paula Miller, Quinnipiac has now participated in fifteen NCAA Tournament matches. The team has previously won six Northeast Conference titles with Miller on staff and has claimed nine Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships since joining that league for the 2013-14 season.
Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will aim to build on this year’s achievements as it continues its participation in conference and national competitions.
