The Quinnipiac track and field program competed at the UMass Ken O’Brien Pre-Championship Invite on April 25, with events held at the University of Massachusetts campus in Amherst. The competition was part of a split-team weekend, as some athletes also participated in the Penn Relays.

The event featured several strong performances from Quinnipiac athletes. Avery Palmucci finished first in the 5000-meter race with a time of 17:06.27, leading four Bobcats who placed within the top twelve for that event. Abby Bossdorf secured second place in the 3000-meter steeplechase, while Grace McQueeney took third in the long jump.

Palmucci’s result moved her into ninth all-time among Quinnipiac runners for the 5000 meters and she is now one of four current team members ranked in the program’s top ten for this distance. Other notable achievements included personal bests by Juliet Allard (400m hurdles), Ashley Carillo (1500m), Alexa Ciccone (5000m), Riley Moylan (long jump), Avery Palmucci (5000m), and Alyssa Turns (5000m).

The Bobcats have one remaining meet before they compete at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Their next competition will take place at Northeastern on May 2.
