The Quinnipiac softball team will begin its postseason as the No. 5 seed, facing No. 4 Sacred Heart in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament on May 6 at Marist Softball Park in Poughkeepsie, New York.

This matchup follows Quinnipiac’s regular season finale against Sacred Heart, where the Bobcats set a new program record with 16 conference wins. The team previously broke this record last year with 14 victories. In their recent series against Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac managed a run-rule victory in game one but ultimately dropped the series.

Senior captains Kennedy DeMott and Sofia Vega were named to the All-MAAC First Team, marking their first postseason honors. Senior Ally Hochstadter also earned her first selection to an All-MAAC team by being named to the Second Team. This is the second consecutive year that three Bobcats have been recognized on All-MAAC teams. Additionally, Quinnipiac placed 15 student-athletes on the MAAC All-Academic Team.

DeMott led her team during the regular season with standout performances both offensively and defensively. She leads Quinnipiac in several statistical categories including OPS (1.062), doubles (10), home runs (5), RBI (37), slugging percentage (.607), walks (14), and on-base percentage (.455). DeMott also leads all players in league play with 33 RBI and is ranked second in caught stealing within the MAAC while standing at No. 35 nationally for this statistic.

Vega contributed significantly as well, scoring a season-high three runs during game one of their last series and achieving her seventeenth multi-hit game of the year during game three. Natalia Apatiga added three RBIs in that final game to bring her season total to twenty.

As they enter tournament play, Quinnipiac aims to build upon its historic regular-season performance and recent individual accolades.
