The Quinnipiac softball team won its weekend series against Mount St. Mary’s after splitting a doubleheader on April 26.

The outcome means Quinnipiac took two out of three games in the series, an important result as the team continues its conference schedule.

In the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader, Mount St. Mary’s scored early with an RBI single in the opening inning. Quinnipiac responded in the second inning when Kinsley Cox singled and Aryn Bombery drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. The Bobcats then took the lead following a fielding error by Mount St. Mary’s. In the sixth inning, Mary Fogg hit a two-run double and Sofia Vega added an RBI groundout to extend Quinnipiac’s lead. Laney Adie pitched a complete game for her sixth collegiate win, allowing one run on eight hits and striking out one batter.

In game two, four errors by Quinnipiac allowed Mount St. Mary’s to score three runs across the first two innings. The Bobcats closed the gap in the third with hits from Riley Potter and Kennedy DeMott, who drove in runs to cut into Mount’s lead. In the fourth inning, Fogg delivered another RBI single to tie it up before Mount St. Mary’s clinched victory with a walk-off single late in the game.

With these results—winning 5-1 in game one and losing 4-3 in game two—Quinnipiac set a new program record for conference wins at 15, surpassing last year’s mark of 14.

Kennedy DeMott had a strong showing during this series, going six-for-eleven at bat with four runs batted in and hitting both a double and home run across three games played over multiple days; she now has twelve multi-hit performances this season including three such games recently.

Mary Fogg continued her consistent play by recording at least one hit in twenty-eight out of thirty-six games so far this season while Adie improved her earned run average (ERA) to 4.72 following her complete-game effort.
