The Quinnipiac softball team earned its 14th Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) win of the season on Apr. 24, defeating Mount St. Mary’s 6-3 in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
This victory ties Quinnipiac’s program record for conference wins and marks a return to form after previous games. The result highlights the team’s strong performance as they approach the end of their regular season schedule.
Mary Fogg started the game with a single before Kennedy DeMott hit an RBI double to give Quinnipiac an early lead. Riley Potter drove in another run with an RBI single in the third inning, followed by Noelle Reid hitting her first collegiate home run to make it 3-0 for the Bobcats. After a weather delay lasting two and a half hours, DeMott added a two-run home run in the sixth inning while Kinsley Cox contributed an RBI groundout to extend the lead to six runs.
Mount St. Mary’s responded with a three-run home run in the seventh inning but could not overcome Quinnipiac’s advantage. Pitcher Shannon Kendall delivered six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and striking out one batter to secure her thirteenth win of the season.
Several players recorded notable achievements during this game: Sofia Vega has had hits in 18 of her last 21 games; DeMott finished with three RBIs and back-to-back multi-hit games; Potter notched her ninth multi-hit game; Ally Hochstadter extended her hitting streak to five games; and Fogg has recorded at least one hit in most of her appearances this season.
As postseason play approaches, Quinnipiac looks to build on its momentum following this series-opening win.
