The Quinnipiac men’s tennis team earned a narrow 4-3 victory over Fairfield on Apr. 16, keeping its postseason hopes alive in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
This result is important for Quinnipiac as it improves the team’s conference record to 4-3 and strengthens its position for postseason qualification.
Despite losing the doubles point, the pair of Csanad Nyaradi and Vishal Prakash secured their sixth doubles win in seven matches. In singles play, Csanad Nyaradi, Carlos Braun Simo, and Alessandro Sciacca won their matches in straight sets. The decisive point came from Elias Hoxha, who clinched victory after a three-set battle that lasted four hours.
In singles results: Carlos Braun Simo defeated Krolikowski (6-1, 6-3), Alcala beat Vishal Prakash (6-4, 6-2), Elias Hoxha overcame Kollias (6-4, 6-7 [6], 6-4), Alessandro Sciacca won against Benaibbouche (6-0, 6-1), Stabek bested Finn Burridge (5-7, 6-4, 6-2), and Csanad Nyaradi defeated Otin (6-4, 6-4). In doubles action: Kollias/Krolikowski topped Carlos Braun Simo/Alessandro Sciacca (6-4); Aguiar/Benaibbouche beat Finn Burridge/Elias Hoxha (6-0); while Csanad Nyaradi/Vishal Prakash edged Alcala/Stabek (7-5).
Csanad Nyaradi and Vishal Prakash now have eight doubles wins this season. Carlos Braun Simo improved his singles record to ten wins and four losses with six victories in his last seven matches. Both Elias Hoxha and Alessandro Sciacca collected their seventh singles wins of the year; Nyaradi earned his fifth.
The outcome reflects a closely contested match that could prove significant as teams compete for spots in the MAAC postseason tournament.
