The Quinnipiac Bobcats women’s golf team finished the first day of the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships in first place, according to an April 21 update. The team posted a combined score of 299 (+11), putting them two strokes ahead of Fairfield after the opening round at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

This early lead is significant as it marks the fourth consecutive year that Quinnipiac has topped the leaderboard after the opening round of the MAAC Championships. Strong performances by individual players contributed to this result.

Sophia Fujita led her team with a score of 73 (+1), tying for second place overall. Fujita recorded a front nine score of 35 (-1) and a back nine score of 38 (+2). Samantha Galantini followed closely, finishing tied for fourth with a consistent round totaling 74 (+2).

Natalie Spiska and Marisa Flores both ended day one tied for seventh place, each shooting a total score of 76 (+4). Vaidehi Shah rounded out Quinnipiac’s lineup with a tie for thirteenth at 77 (+5), highlighted by her strong back nine performance. Shah also led all competitors with five birdies during the round, while Flores and Spiska each recorded three birdies—tied for second most on the day.

The Bobcats are scheduled to return to action on April 22 for round two as they aim to maintain their position atop the standings at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course.
