Quinnipiac Bobcats finish second in Fairfield Tri-Match golf event

The Quinnipiac Bobcats women’s golf team finished second in the Fairfield Tri-Match on April 13 at the H. Smith Richardson Golf Course, ending with a team score of 314 (+22), three strokes behind the Fairfield Stags.

The match was significant for Quinnipiac as it demonstrated strong individual performances and consistent improvement throughout the round. Alexia Egdahl led the Bobcats by tying for fourth place with a score of 76 (+3), including three birdies and a closing back nine of 38 (+1).

Michelle Wong finished just one stroke behind Egdahl, securing sixth place after shooting a front nine of 39 (+3) and matching Egdahl’s back nine with a 38 (+1). Sophia Fujita followed closely in seventh place, posting a total score of 79 (+6) and also finishing strong on the final nine holes.

Tekla Fine-Lease tied for ninth after an overall score of 82 (+9), showing improvement on her back nine with a score of 40 (+3). Mason Egdahl and Amy Goddard both tied for sixteenth place, each recording an overall score of 85 (+12).

Three Bobcats—Alexia Egdahl, Michelle Wong, and Sophia Fujita—shot identical scores of 38 (+1) on the back nine. Every participating Quinnipiac golfer improved their performance on the back half compared to their front nine scores. The event also marked Egdahl’s second-best round this season at +3, while Wong matched her career best with her +4 finish.

Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will compete next Tuesday, April 21st at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida as they open play at the MAAC Championships.
