This result is significant for Quinnipiac as it marks their first shutout against Fairfield since April 24, 2008, and also represents their first Friday victory since facing Canisius on April 17. The team was led by Andrew Rubayo on the mound, who pitched seven innings, allowing only three hits and one walk while striking out six batters. Mason Ulsh and Matt Alduino combined for the final six outs, striking out three more batters to secure the shutout.
At the plate, Christian Smith had a standout performance with three hits in five at-bats, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Smith hit his sixth home run of the season during a three-run blast in the eighth inning and now leads his team in home runs this year.
