The Quinnipiac Bobcats defeated the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils, 10-3, in Hamden on April 22. With this victory, the Bobcats improved their overall record to 18-21 and extended their winning streak to four games.
This result is significant as it shows the team’s momentum heading into future matchups and demonstrates strong offensive production. The Bobcats have now scored at least ten runs in eight games this season and remain undefeated in those contests.
Central Connecticut took an early lead with a run in the first inning, but Quinnipiac responded by tying the game in the third. The Bobcats pulled ahead with a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by Peyton Vancas’s RBI single and Caden Williamson’s two-run double. Additional runs were added throughout the game by players including Kyle Garbowski, Jack Balcer, and James Marino.
Eight different Quinnipiac players recorded hits during the contest. Vancas went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and is batting .282 this season. Chase Camac collected three hits out of four at-bats, raising his average to .272 during his first collegiate year. Williamson drove in three runs while Garbowski contributed two RBIs and hit his third home run of the season.
On the mound, Kevin Rusinak pitched four innings as starter, allowing one run on five hits with three strikeouts for his first win of the year. Josh Lajoie provided relief over three innings with four strikeouts while Teagan Beames and Langdon Hazen each pitched a scoreless inning to close out the game.
Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will stay at home to face Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers on Friday afternoon for game one of a three-game series.
