Quinnipiac’s acrobatics and tumbling team secured a place in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) Championship final after defeating Oregon on April 24 at the Felix Events Center in Azusa, California.
This marks Quinnipiac’s first appearance in the title meet since 2018 and its third overall. The Bobcats overcame a deficit of more than two points following the Acro event, steadily closing the gap before outperforming Oregon by nearly five points in the team routine. The final score was Quinnipiac 260.990, Oregon 256.010.
Quinnipiac began with a narrow lead by winning the compulsory event by three-tenths of a point but fell behind after Oregon gained an advantage during Acro. However, Quinnipiac responded with strong performances, including a score of 9.90 in the open pyramid and another standout moment when Kat Carter achieved a six-element pass for another 9.90—the highest among all tumbling heats.
The Bobcats continued their momentum into toss events, highlighted by their execution of the 450 Salto Toss that outscored any other toss by .275 points.
Quinnipiac will compete for the national championship on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Eastern at Felix Events Center.
