The Quinnipiac acrobatics and tumbling team posted its highest score of the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) National Tournament on April 25 but was defeated by Baylor with a final score of 271.835-266.265 in the national championship meet.
The close contest saw Quinnipiac trailing by just one point heading into the tumbling rounds, but Baylor managed to widen the gap during that event and ultimately secured victory with a strong performance in the team round. Despite this, Quinnipiac won two events against Baylor, coming out ahead in both pyramid and toss after Baylor had taken an early lead in compulsory and acro events.
After a strong start in compulsory, Acro 5 and Acro 7 performed well for Quinnipiac, posting scores of 9.725 and 9.75 respectively. The pyramid event proved pivotal for the Bobcats as they earned no score lower than 9.825 across all heats. Consistency continued into the toss heat, where all three heats scored at least 9.35 points; notably, the 450 Salto achieved a mark of 9.70.
Senior Kat Carter delivered a standout performance by sticking her six-element pass for a score of 9.925 during her final team competition appearance.
Looking ahead, Quinnipiac is set to compete in ten event finals on Sunday morning starting at 1 p.m., Eastern time, with coverage available via ESPN+.
