Two University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse players received weekly honors following the team’s 15-6 victory over Xavier, according to an April 13 announcement from the university.

The recognition highlights individual performances that contributed to UConn’s recent success on the field.

Junior goalkeeper Sofia Oximana was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. Oximana earned her fifth win of the season by making nine saves with a .600 save percentage. She also collected two ground balls and caused one turnover during the game against Xavier.

Freshman attacker Hadley Bethke was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Bethke achieved a career-high six points in Saturday’s match, scoring four goals and providing two assists. She currently ranks third on the Huskies in both goals, with 18, and points, with 27.

UConn is scheduled to play its next game at Morrone Stadium on Tuesday, April 14 at 6:00 p.m., facing New Hampshire.
